The door lock on my Kenmore front loader washer does not lock

Kenmore washer, front loader, Model #417 48102701
The door will not lock, therefore the machine will not operate.
The green light at the "door locked" does not light up.
It is possible that the door was forsed open at the end of Spin Cycle, not sure!
It there a reset button, or anything like that to activate the lock mechanism
or do I have to replace parts?
I will wait for answer.
Thank you
Walter

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

You did not state if any lights are coming on or not or if it filled or not. Adding additional details would also be most helpful.

Your washer should be flashing the Start indicator light and the five indicators of Door Lock, Wash, Rinse, Final Spin and Control indicating a fault code. I added a couple of images below that may help diagnose the failure.

Reply in the thread with your findings for further assistance. Follow the instructions on the information I added below.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Washers lid locks are a safety feature on most newer models. I see from a previous post for this model it can affect the operation. I attached that expert answer below. It also contains links for parts and service if needed.
