Kenmore Elite HE 3 t front loader washer F70/ F71 error codes

We have a Kenmore Elite front model 110.4996 front load washer that quit working, it is only 3 years old. It powered on and we were able to select the cycle but then when we hit the start button nothing happened. We tried powering it on and off and also unplugging it and nothing worked.

I have read other similar sounding problems and did checks that were mentioned. I unplugged and plugged the machine back in, in the time stated, tried the power button and got three beeps. Unplugged the little three wire plug from the MCU, plugged washer back in and hit the power button and the front control board lit up like normal. Pushed the start button and the cycle started but drum did not turn. Turned the machine off ASAP.

Is the MCU the proper part to replace or is there something else I should try first?

It definitely feels like were dealing with rocket science when an error code appears on our appliances. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful. Have a nice day.

The MCU or Motor Control would not be the cause of the F70/F71 errors. See the 1st image for more information on the cause of these two errors.

The error codes indicate a failure of the interface or the main central control. Which one is the problem depends on if the drum is rotating.

Try running the diagnostic cycle and see what happens.

You can reply with any additional details for further assistance with this problem.

Hi Fred,
Thank for the input. I have done the checks and the drum does Not turn. Now, the main central control is the one under the lid, up on the right hand side, right?
