Thank you for your questions.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the water softener. The first think to check is a salt bridge in the salt tank. A salt bridge can occasionally form when the salt gets a crust and does not fall as it is being used. When this happens, the softer will not soften the water. to break up a salt bridge use a broom stick or like object to push to the bottom of the salt tank. Once it is broken up, the salt will fall to the bottom of the tank. If there is not a salt bridge, I recommend checking the water level in the salt tank. If you see water in the salt tank, I recommend cleaning the nozzle venturi. The instructions for cleaning the nozzle venturi are posted below. Click on the image to enlarge. Once you have the venturi, cleaned push and hold the recharge now button to start the softener into a regeneration cycle. After the regeneration is complete, you should have soft water on the cold water and hot water side should get gradually softer as you use it.

I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reply below with more details.

Having the water softener not using salt can be really disappointing because water softeners are used for that. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, I was searching the Manage My Life website and found a great link. You can also set service with a Sears technician. I have attached the links below. Have a wonderful day!
