Damage to Outter tube of Kenmore HE3 washer 110-42922203

I purchased a Kenmore HE3 washer 110-42922203 in 2004. The washer has been getting increasingly loud and I just discovered that the outer tube (8181665) has begun to come apart. What other parts should be inspected replaced along with the outer tube, what things should I look for when I take the machine apart, and what is still under the original warranty

Mike: You will need to check in your Owner's manual for the warranty. Without having the model number I would not be able to check the warranty. I highly recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.

I have what sounds to be the same problem with my Kenmore HE4t. Toward the end to the rinse cycle, at high speed it sounds like something comes apart with a load clunking sound. It sounds fine at lower speeds. I took the front off and see that the lip on the front tube is chewed to pieces (8181665). Is this something I can fix, or should I have Sears service it. Also, just wondering if the 10 year warranty you mention applies to my washer as well. It's about 3 years old. Thanks!

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The rear tub assembly and the front tub assembly will need to be replaced and most likely the spin basket too.

The outer tub has a 10 year warranty. Sears will replace the plastic tub if it’s defective in material or workmanship. After the first year, you will be responsible for the labor charges.

Based on your symptom the spin basket will also need to be replaced which has a lifetime warranty. You will have to have Sears perform the labor.

You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:
