kenmore automatic iron filter model 625.349225

kenmore automatic iron filter model 625.349225

Today is the second time I found my filter flushing for hours not shutting down. I tried the manual advance and that seemed to work but it seems like it may be out of sequence . Should I remove the valve and see if there is any problems there? My venturi was semi stopped up and I cleaned it out. I cant seem to get recharge now and VAC to stop flashing in window.

I apologize if my last response did not get to you. Did you not get my last response on the 7th of November? I was on vacation for about 10 days before that if you count the weekends.

Please update me as to if it is still continuing to turn the rotor when you plug it in. And is the control showing any error codes?

I apologize for someone not getting back with you while I was on vacation.

The system was supposed to roll over my response to another expert while I was gone.

Plug the unit in and push pad 4 for three seconds until 1888 comes up in the window.

Then press 3 to display the position (P) switch open or closed indicator.

It should not be moving by itself unless you push the 5 pad to move from one manual location to the next.
If it is moving by itself as soon as you plug it in I would say that it is either wired incorrectly or the there should be an error code displayed.

Please let me know if you are still having this problem because of the time laps since I talked to you last.

Sam, finally back to you. I just got the gasket replacement kit for the valve. They sent me the wrong thing twice and finally got the one I bought and paid for. I put it on,no problems. I am still having the problem when I plug the transformer in, the display shows the proper code 51F 10 then the J1.1 comes up then automatically the RECHARGE NOW AND VAC flashing at the same time and the the cam goes round and round. I pushed the recharge button , counted to 3 or 4 and it did nothing. I had the unit unplugged for at least 2 weeks so it should have reset if its going to. I checked all connections and all seems to be OK. Give me some knowledge please? ASAP

Thank you for the up date on the iron filter. I am sorry that your water is that bad. I thought I had a bad iron problem when I lived in northern Minnesota but yours sounds awful.

Please let me know how it works out with the repair.
If they find the manual I will certainly forward it to you.

I understand about the older filter. I would like to know how to operate it so if you can find a manual let me know. I have searched from one end to the other and cant find it,"out dated".I have 2 inline cartridge filters before my iron filter and one after my iron filter. The two before the iron filter catch a great deal of red iron looking sludge. the one after the kenmore iron filter catches very little but still needs changing sometimes. My water is so poor here no matter how deep you go you hit the same mess. I am waiting on the replacement kit for the valve rebuild and will be back in touch when it gets here. It may be the motor, it was making more noise than usual but would power on threw the manual advance . Thanks, HIII

Thank you for the update on the Iron filters.

I would not recommend having the old obsolete iron filter in line. For one thing you will double you water pressure drop by having the old one in line and it will not do anything more for you than the newer one in working condition.

If you are afraid some of the iron would slip through I would suggest that softener down stream of the iron filter would pickup what little the iron filter would miss.

The old one is very obsolete and there are little to not part available if you needed any.
The manual has dropped of the list of manuals because of its age of the 270th day of 1985.

If the manufacture finds a copy of the manual they said they would send me a copy for you. If will require a manual search to see if they have one in archives.

I ordered the kit for the filter you have been talking to me about and it came with only 2 pieces of rubber. I am waiting on sears to send me a new kit now."" I have an older filter mod 625.340210 ser# 2011 date code 85270. It was here when I bought this place but I could not find a operator manual. Yes I know where to look and have many suggestions about where I could find one but I need a pro, you, to tell me where to get an operator manual for this older filter. I can use this old one as a pre filter for my newer filter if I could figure how to clean the stones and backwash. How did they add perm to the filter in this old one? I need a manual bad. Thanks,HIII''''

Thank you for the update on the iron filter.

The rotor will be very hard to turn by hand because it is spring loaded and the motor has a large gear reduction. It is possible with its age that the motor is failing and the gasket seals are become more difficult for the motor to turn the rotor.

The seal kit is part number : 7129716 I have given you a link below to the parts list you may want to look at and pick out the part you think you will need.

Sam, that sounds like it may be my problem. The motor ran and ran because of my manual advance of the valve. I took the small electric motor off to listen to it run and it sounds like it may be making more noise than usual. I tried advancing the valve by hand and it was impossible to move. Should that valve be movable by hand? Is there a kit of seals and what ever I may need to rebuild that valve. If so where can it be found. HIII

Thank you for your question on the iron filter hung up on a cycle.

First you will need to push and hold the Recharge button until you get the VACATION to go away.

Then push for 3 seconds to get the unit into regeneration.

It could be that the seals inside the valve assembly are causing too much torque for the motor to turn or the motor is getting weak and will not turn the rotor when it is time to move to the next regeneration step.

You did not say that you got an error code displayed in the control window.

Please let me know what you find out.
