Manage My Life

my lawn mower is running @ a very high rpm

I asked this question yesterday and have not received a response yet . I bought a Quantum 120000 ...6.75 21" High Wheel rear bagger 190 cc mower on 03/18/2011...It has been great!! I changed the oil after the first 5 hrs ..the air filter is clean , the plug is clean and gapped properly and the mower is clean on top and no dried grass below around blade. It starts always on the first pull . While cutting my lawn this week it just started running faster and faster to the point where the rpm,s were getting so high I got nervous and shut it down. What should I check that is causing this...Please help me ...I have to finish my lawn!!! Thankx Steve

Thank you for your question.

I see this is a duplicate question. I will post below what I responded to your original question. If you have additional, questions please reply below with more details.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the mower. The problem could be that the throttle on the carburetor is sticky. To check the throttle you will need to be able to get to the top of the carburetor. Usually a long screwdriver will work fine. Stick the screwdriver onto the throttle and move it back and forth to see if it moves freely. If it seems free, the problem is either missing throttle spring or an internal governor problem. If that is the case, I recommend taking the mower to one of our drop off locations to have it serviced. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations:

. The mower has a two year warranty and should be repaired for free providing the failure was customer abuse. I would not run the mower until it is fixed. I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance, please reply below with more details.
