GE dryer squeaks when running - model DPSF495GW0WW

by DENNIS CARSTENS Last activity date:

I have a GE dryer model DPSF495GW0WW that goes squeak, squeak, squeak while running. The noise is louder when the clothes are first in the dryer (wetter, heavier?). The noise reduces as they dry and weigh less.

I can not find info on this specific model and can't open images from a prior similar posting.

Hi Dennis,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

Here is a video that will demonstrate getting the top and front off your dryer;

.

The bearing plates that you are referring to are the drum slides (part numbers WE1M481 and WE1M333).

Here is a video that will show you how to replace the

Drum Slides

.

While you have your dryer apart you may as well replace the drum bearing kit (part number WE25M40). Here is a couple of videos that will best demonstrate replacing the drum bearings;

.

Video 2

.

You will also need to check the motor and blower areas, and make sure the squeak is not coming from there.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

.

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases;

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

THank you for the reply. I was not sure how to remove the front cover but I am making progress. It appears that the front "bearing" plates are worn out.
