Lid Lock System for Maytag Washer

My Maytag Ecoconserve Mod # MVWX500 XW00 washing machine will not run a load due to the fact the lid lock system is no longer locking. I have tried unplugging it for the night to allow it to reset it self but that did not work.

I am wondering if there is a way to override the locking system so that I may run a load. Or if there is a way to tell if it is the lock itself or if it is the computer lock mechanism (computer)?

Hi Kelly,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I am not allowed to advise you to bypass any of the safety features on an appliance. The first thing you will need to do is check for error codes. This washer has a test routine you can run that will help in the diagnosis of any problems the control detects. If the control detects a problem it will identify it with an error code. I am including this information in a set of images below.

Please perform the diagnostic tests detailed here and report back with your findings. Be sure to record any failures and when they occur along with any error codes that are displayed.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

.

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases;

Sears Parts Direct

.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
