washing machine isnt working

I have a sears kenmore model #92599500 heavy duty extra capacity plus washer and it just stopped working- the machine will fill up but it will not agitate at all on any cycle then then water will dispense from the machine once the time has elapsed and then it will not spin at all and potentially not rinse either but i am not sure.

is the machine fixable or has it had its last days?

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the motor is running when it should be agitating and spinning but there is no agitation action or spin action then it likely has a broken motor coupler. If you feel confident in checking to see if the motor coupler is broken I added a YouTube video showing how to

access and replace

the motor coupler. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

.

If the motor is not starting after the washer fills with water then it could have an electronic control board failure, motor failure, loose or burnt wiring connection. If the motor is not running, I highly recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer or you may want to think about replacing the washer.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Good morning Joey. Thank you for responding. So yesterday when my husband came home he attempted to fidget with the buttons and was filling the machine and then had the machine empty its water contents- after the emptying occurred he said there was a "burnt" smell and there appeared to be a mist of smoke of something that came from the machine. I hope this info helps.

My main concern at this point is the cost of review & repair v a new machine- if you could weigh in on that as well i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks and have a great day.

Mayra: Based on your additional details it sounds like it could have a control board or relay board failure or it could be the motor itself. Based on the model and the availability of parts, I recommend replacing the washer rather than spending any money on it. I hope this is helpful in making your decision.
