heater not working just blowing cold air on 2003 ford taurus SEL. A similar problem occurs on a neigbor's Taurus and a guy just replaced something undereath the dash next to the glove compartment a $26 part at Ford dealership and it is working fine now. I called Ford Parts and they cannot tell me what parts it is.

Check to see if there is rust colored coolant in the over flow bottle. If there is you are having an issue with a clogged heater core and possibly engine block. The only part that is that cheap under the dash is the blower resistor but that would not have to do with temp. just blower speed.
Thank you Mike and looks like the heater blend door is working because I can hear movements and clicking on the blower when i switch the temp control. But I noticed the rust color coolant on my coolant resevoir. What is you recommendation on how to unclogged the heater core is the a special coolant flush to remedy this issue. Again thanks a million for your help.
