Whoa, we had given up getting the CONTROL LOCKED light off, but did a search again, this time on which brought me to this page. I knew there had to be a simple button-holding type solution and tried all the likely suspects until you pointed me to the CONTROL END SIGNAL. Thank you!!! especially because I am visiting friends in Canada, staying in basement guest room and am pretty sure I caused the problem to begin with the other night when the signal was driving me crazy at bed time. My host is hard od hearing!

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

If the washer control will not accept the commands to lock or unlock the user interface, the user interface may have a stuck key and need to be replaced. Make sure you are using the correct procedure as follows;

Locking controls

:

The Control Lock avoids unintended use of the washer. You can also use the control lock feature to avoid unintended cycle or option changes during a cycle. When CONTROL LOCKED is lit, all buttons are disabled except for PAUSE/OFF and START. You can lock the controls while the washer is operating.

To lock the controls

:

Select and hold CYCLE END SIGNAL for 3 seconds. The CONTROL LOCKED status light glows.

To unlock the controls

:

Select and hold CYCLE END SIGNAL for 3 seconds until the CONTROL LOCKED Status light turns off.

You may want to disassemble the console and ensure that the buttons are not restricted. I am including disassembly instructions in the images below. If the user interface does not accept this command, I recommend replacing the user interface (part number 8182150).

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

.

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases;

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please reply to this post.
