Dryer will not dry #41788042700 Kenmore Sport Dryer front loader

Dryer will not dry at all. Dryer will run for a bit and shuts down . All control board lights then start blinking. The cycle nob to select which drying method will not function properly (no lights come on when choosing a cycle). I have replaced the thermostor and thermostat. What would be my next step in repairing dryer so it will function properly?

Anonymous; if the venting system is restricted, the back of the dryer will get hotter than normal. The heating element is located directly behind the drum and if there is not enough air flowing past the heating element due to a venting issue, the back panel will get hotter than normal. Check the vent system and the lint screen.

I took the control panel off and it was a loose connection

The back of the dryer gets so hot you can'y hold your hand there long

It had the heating element replaced about a year ago, I never noticed how hot the rear top and back of the cabinet got.

I just use med Heat now

Bill: The thermistor is part #134587700 and it is located on the front of the blower wheel housing (key#15). You will need to remove the front lower access panel in order to access and replace the thermistor if it is faulty. The thermistor can be disconnected and measure for resistance with an Ohm meter. The "F24" fault code implies the thermistor or its wiring is shorted. The thermistor should measure approximately 50,000 (5K) at room temperature. You can order parts at Sears Parts Direct. I have a 4 year old 41788042700 Kenmore dryer and matching washer ( they have both need repairs since I bought them ) to the tune of over $300.00 in repairs

Now the dryer is on the "fritz" again

Can you tell if the control NTC is the same as a themistor

I got a 24 code after my dryer shut down and would not restart
THAT ERROR CODE IS NTC is shorted

BEFORE IT Stopped starting I put some towels in that were still very wet.
( my 41788042702 Kenmore washer does not spin the clothes completely all the time )

There was a lot of condensation in the dryer after I saw it would not restart

I think the part number is 134587700 for thermistor ( not sure ) the rep on the phone from sears will not give me the part number - unless I put in an order !!!!!! ??????

Can you tell me any more, like if that part number is correct and where on the blower housing the thermistor is exactly I don't see it marked on the diagram you supplied I see numbers but there is no Legend to see what parts the numbers are for..

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The flashing lights are signaling a fault code. The flashing lights will need to be deciphered using the information I added in the image below.

You will likely find a heating fault. The control board could be faulty or the heating element. Reply with the fault code for further instructions if needed. The heating element requires 220 volts in order to heat. The Control board has to close the heater relay in order to provide 120 volts to one lead of the heater and the motor centrifugal switch closes once the motor is running in order to provide the other 120 volts to the other heating element lead. If it's not heating I would check for a burnt wire coming off the heater relay on the control board. If the heater is Okay and there are no burnt wires then it may have faulty control board.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:
