chainsaw repair

I have an old craftsman chainsaw. actual model# not available but upon searching for parts at sears partsdirect.com the part I need p/n 530069202 which fits saws model #s 358355-071 thru162 is no longer available. I did order and receive a part, p/n 530039198 which is very similar but does not fit correctly.

i can either return the part or try to modify it to get it to fit. Part cost was $21+ s&h which I will loose if I bother to send it back. Any ideas???

thanks

I don't think trying to modify the coil will work. Depending on what needs to be modified, but I just don't think it will work. You may want to "Google" the part number you need and see if you can maybe find a used one or a "leftover" from someplace. I was able to find a couple on Ebay that are for sale. They aren't cheap, but it does appear to be the correct part.

Thanks for the reply . I will try to google the P/N and see what I get. but in the mean time I am going to attempt to elongate the mounting holes to allow the module to be mounted and allow the flywheel to spin freely. Its only about a hairline away.

I have a 1997 Mac 3200 chain saw, model #600002-43-16" blade. The chain saw works perfect except when the oil reservoir is full not oil is getting to the chain or bar. When you remove the housing to get chain off where does the oil come from? How does the oil get to the bar and chain? Leonard
