Samsung rsg257aars refrigerator ice maker not working properly out of the box new

On the RSG257aars icemaker water supply does not fill ice tray completely (only 50 to 60%) and will not produce ice continuously. Believe water supply pressure eliminated from possible causes since, water dispenser flows 12 Oz water in 10 seconds and supply line from 1/2 dia copper pipe brand new. Only way ice is produced is if I hit the manual ice tray button and then only one tray of ice made and make make continuously.

Previous 30 year old refrigerator ice maker worked fine in same location.

Questions: What type device controls how full the ice tray fills? A level sensor would be best, but suspect the level is based on a timer and solinoid valve?

Question 2: Even if the ice tray is not filling up all the way, should not ice be produced continuously? Even if the ice is small?

Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the icemaker doesn't work. This icemaker has a sensor that will determine when to start a cycle and yes, it should still cycle, even with small cubes but it may cause a slower cycle time. On this new unit, a technician will be needed check it and make this repair under warranty. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

. I hope this will help you.

Some more information: My interpretation of the manual with regards to turning the ice maker on and off is as follows: The blue icon f "Ice Off" is always present and there is no way to make it go away. The indication of the ice maker being turned off is: "ice off" icon is flashing?

In summary my believe is that the following display indicates ice maker is on: "Ice off" icon is present but not flashing and ice dispensing is selected (cubed or crushed).

Other things I have done: Ran about 5 gallons of water through water dispenser, verified this flow rate in spec. Removed and replace new filter about 5 times and reflushed water dispenser. Unplugged and repowered frig several times. Ran diagnostic test as indicated on back of unit.....no error codes present. Also have ran the ice dispenser through about 20+ manual cycles in which one tray of ice is made as substandard size. The next cycle never occurs unless I hit the manual test button again
