Black chunks falling out from under dishwasher

Should I worry about black chunks that break off and fall on floor every time I wash dishes? They are coming from underneath..

My dishwasher is a Kenmore Elite Model # 665.13114K701
The pieces only show up after the dish washer has been ran. Usually I run it at night while I am asleep. The next morning when I open the dish washer I can hear the pieces break or fall on the floor. They are coming from someplace under the dishwasher. It looks like insulation. A hard plastic. My concern is that something is getting too hot and melting the insulation. I worry about a fire hazard.
Here are a few pictures of pieces. They are the best shots i'll admit.

I understand how confusing this problem can be for you, especially since this is not easily identified. The insulation inside the dishwasher door is made of foam. In order for the water to get into the door to damage that foam, there would need to be a hole or damage to the door. It is more likely that these chunks are coming from the door seal. Your dishwasher has a rubber gasket piece that fits on the inside perimeter of the door. While your dishwasher is running, water collects in the bottom of the tub and is sprayed throughout the dishwasher. The door gasket keeps the water from leaking out between the door and the front of the dishwasher. Since the gasket is made of rubber, it eventually wears out from age and exposure to heat from the dishwasher’s heating element. If you find that the gasket is brittle, cracking or otherwise damaged, peel it off and apply a fresh gasket, which you can purchase from an appliance service center.

It's not the rubber gasket. The rubber seal looks great. These chunks are breaking off from underneath someplace. If I take a mirror and look under the dishwasher I can see a black coating. I just assumed it was insulation. I have only had this dishwasher about three years. It is stainless steal and I consider nit still new. We replaced our old one that was about 11 years old. It actually was working fine but we decided to upgrade and get a new one before something went wrong.

I did some more research on this unit and found that there is a sound shield , which is made from black plastice, that could be breaking. It will not affect the way the dishwasher runs. It's there to make the machine run quieter.
