My HE top loading washer is leaving white spots on my dark clothes, why?

When I wash dark clothes, I have white spots on them. I have cut way back on my HE detergent, not even using 1/2 of the recommended amount. I have also added a second rinse but that doesn't help. Do you have any idea what is causing this? Very frustrating. Sometimes I have to run them through a second wash without any detergent. This in NOT cost efficient.

The model number2600*010 or 2601*010. I bought this washer in April, 2011 from Sears.

I would appreciate any help you could give me.

I do use a liquid detergent. I will try using warm water & see if that helps the issue.
Thanks.

I know that it can be difficult to have an issue with your washer. I am assuming because you are asking about the detergent, that the white spots are not permanent. If you are using a cold wash and cold rinse this could affect the detergent ability to dissolve. On this model the temperature for the cold water is the same as the household water. If it is too cold, then the detergent will not dissolve completely. I would suggest that you run a cycle on warm wash/cold rinse, and see if this solves the problem. If not you may want to switch to a liquid detergent, or dilute the detergent with warm water before you begin your cycle.
