Pump Filter on Kenmore Front Loading Washer

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

Kenmore Front Loading Washer, model 796.4027#2900. As directed in the manual, we occasionally drain the hose and clean the pump filter (found at the bottom of the washer.) When we drain the hose, the water very slowly drips out and it takes about a half hour to actually drain it. Then when I twist the pump filter to remove it, water comes pouring out of that and I have to clean it up with many towels. This doesn't seem right.. I imagine the hose should drain quicker, and there shouldn't be any water pouring out of the pump filter when I remove it. Can someone help me with this?

Here is what I recommend, remove the drain pump and make sure the drain pump and hoses are clear and free of obstruction. Here is a video that will show you how to gain access to and remove the drain pump;

Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

The washer in this video may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details in a reply to this post.

If the washer is not draining from the washer through the hose, one thing that may help is to check for a clogged hose. The expert will review this model and respond, but I did attach two similar questions and a video that may provide some help. I hope this information helps with the drain issue.
