Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. I will be happy to assist you but without a model number, I can only give you general information. In the details of your question, you did not indicate if the engine would turn over when you try to start it. I will assume that the engine. First, make sure the mower deck is off and the shifter is in neutral. Then depress the brake pedal and try to start the engine. If the tractor does not make any noise, I recommend checking the fuse. On most of or tractors the fuse is located behind the dash or near the battery. The fuse will be in a holder that has two red wires. If the fuse is ok, please reply below with the model number of the tractor. Also, let me know if you have a volt ohmmeter and feel comfortable making checks.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

It is important to stay on top of the mowing season and it is not easy when the Murray riding tractor will not start. I provided a few links with similar issues with riding mowers that do not start. Hope this helps while you wait for a response from the expert. Please submit more information like do the lights come on, or does it have spark to get a better answer.
