Kenmore Quite Guard Standard dishwasher

When the wash cycle begins, it sounds like water is entering the unit but then stops, tried washing dishes on all the cycles and have the same result, soap still in the bottom with little water. Got any suggestions?

The water is one of the needed resources in the dishwasher to properly help clean the dishes and I am sorry for the inconvenience. I suggest you add to the thread of this question and include the full model number of your dishwasher so that the expert can provide you with a more detailed answer. I am adding two links below that describe similar questions. I hope this helps while you wait for your expert response.

I know that it can be very difficult to have problems with your dishwasher. The water should fill to at least 1/4 inch below the heating element in the bottom of the tub. To check the fill level, start a cycle and then crack the door to stop the dishwasher just after the filling stops and before the spray starts. Open the dishwasher door fully and look at the water level in the bottom of the tub. If it is low, try manually adding some hot water with a bucket or container to see if the dishwasher will fill wash properly with the correct amount of water.

If the dishwasher is not filling properly, you may need to check the water pressure and flow from the fill line for the dishwasher. You can shut off the electrical supply and water supply and then reverse the installation instructions to pull the dishwasher out from under the counter to check this issue. If you check the water supply and find low pressure or flow, I recommend having a plumber repair the water supply to the dishwasher. If the water supply is okay, check the inlet water screen on the water valve of the dishwasher for debris or deposits. You may need to replace the water valve if the dishwasher is not filling properly. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread with your model number. Anne,

I am having the same issue. It's not a problem with the water pressure or level with mine. The water flows into the dishwasher, and the element heats up. The part in the bottom that spins the water is not working, so I am thinking that could be the issue and the part that needs to be replaced. My soap packet isn't even dissolving and I find it just sitting in the utensil tray after trying to run through a washing cycle. My model number is 587.15142400 and it is a Kenmore Quiet Guard Standard dishwasher. Any help or insight that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
