How do I remove protective cover #8531857 from my diswhasher (MDB7609aws1)?

My dishwasher's (MDB7609AWS1) performance declined a bit, so I removed the accumulator and cleaned out the junk in the bottom. I can see there's a bit more stuff underneath the protective cover (#8531857). I can't remove the protective cover. I removed one screw, but the cover doesn't budge. How do I remove the protective cover?

Removing some parts without breaking something can be difficult in appliances. I located a similar question for a similar model that may help. I attached below along with the parts diagrams for this model at Sears Parts Direct. I hope these help while you wait for step by step directions from the expert.

Hi Adam,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The cover is likely stuck with hard water minerals. You may just have to be forceful with it. Here is a video that demonstrates removing the inlet protector;

.

Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

The dishwasher in this video may not look exactly like yours but the procedure is basically the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website;

Sears Home Services

.

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or to purchase any parts needed for your

Maytag model number MDB7609AWS1 dishwasher

.

I hope this is helpful, and if I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.
