Ice & Water dispenser not working

I have the Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator model # 795-71069-010, my ice maker stopped working three weeks ago, and tonight my water will not work. There is water in the line to the refrigerator. I have recently replaced the filter, within the past 3 weeks. What can I do?

Hi Lisa, Boy oh boy do I feel your pain. I had to call Sears for my fridge and my dryer and had the same experience - over-paying for some very simple fixes. The pain didn't end there - they stood me up on a Saturday . Not that big a deal right? Well I was on vacation with my family and had to drive back home (3 hour round trip) just to meet the Sears guy. It was Saturday of July 4th weekend. I sat in our home by myself for nearly 6 hours. Factor in my drive time and that's 9 hours...9 HOURS! At that time our son was 5 months old so my wife was all by herself for an entire day. I called the repair guy like 4 times and he kept saying I'll be there in an hour, I'll be there in one hour. Then he stopped answering his phone. I called Sears and they just apologized. I was ready to kill someone!!!!!! I tried to get my money back but they were so pathetic and greedy that I couldn't even stand talking to anyone at SEARS, so we had a local guy come fix it. I will never EVER call them again!

Lisa Ramos less than a minute ago WARNING.....before you have SEARS to your home for repair/service you might want to reconsider after reading my post. BE AWARE OF FLAT RATE FEES! My ice maker on my Kenmore Refrig./Freezer stopped producing ice. I phoned for service and was explained about the $65.OO fee "just to come out" to diagnose the problem, which I was ok with. Upon arrival the service tech had it diagnosed in under 5 min. , which turned out to be the Module. I was given a price for a new vs rebuilt, which was alarming to say the least! $158.87 for a REBUILT module. I then asked the fee for installation....alarming as well. $217.75 (this included the tax AND the 65.00 service fee). I quickly did the math and realized it was $152.75 to install. At this point I asked the tech how long the job was going to take for this amount of money.....he LAUGHED and never appropriately answered my question and ultimately was my fault for not pursuing for the correct answer !!! After authorizing the job to be done, the tech went to his van for the part.....had the broken Module out and the "rebuilt" one installed in LESS than 10 MINUTES!!!! Total time involved, including diagnosis was UNDER 15 min. for a total bill of $376.62. With all said...we were grossly overcharged for services and after calling and emailing many different contacts, we were reimbursed for the $65.00 service fee and were explained about their "FLAT RATE FEE"...based on the JOB...NOT THE TIME!!!LOL Charging $152.75 for 10 minutes....SHAME ON YOU SEARS. We will never purchase another SEARS product again and others should think twice before utilizing their services. Your best bet....call a local repair service! I know that it can be very difficult to have your ice maker and water stop working. Both the ice maker and water dispenser open and close the water valve on the back of the refrigerator. If this is not opening then the valve needs to be replaced. You will need to test this to determine if this is the problem. The ice maker has a test you can run that will force it to cycle (see image below). While it is running this test, you will need an ohm/volt meter to test the valve for continuity. You will be looking for 120 volts. You can also test the water dispenser, by pressing the dispenser paddle in, while you test the valve.

These will be Live Voltage Test.

You will need to exercise extreme caution to do these. If you are not comfortable, I would recommend that you schedule a technician to diagnose and repair the refrigerator.
