Manage My Life

My Craftsman lawn mower is model # 917.375630. When I started this season, it ran for about 2-3 minutes then the engine kept running slower until it quit.

It wouldn't restart. I put in a new air filter and spark plug. Now the engine runs for a few seconds and quits. Everytime you restart it, it does the same thing. I noticed when I was installing the new spark plug, the guy sold me a RJ19H and not the RJ19HX I requested. Could this be causing my problem or is it something else?

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the mower. Usually when an engine starts and dies, it is because the main jet in the carburetor is plugged. To repair this you have to clean or replace the carburetor. If you would like to clean the carburetor yourself click

to watch a video to show you how. As long as the fuel tank is empty, you do not have to remove the fuel tank.

Make sure to work in a well ventilated area and use caution when working with gasoline.
