Lawn tractor 917.270840 Clutch Lever will not engage blades.

Replaced steering assembly, lowered the deck and now blades will not engage. Cannot find diagrams on
engage and disengage lever is suppose to be.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. I will be happy to assist you. I have posted an image below that shows how the linkage should be connected. Just click on the image to enlarge it. I recommend lowering the mower deck down so that you can see between the tractor frame and mower deck. Then have a helper mover the engagement lever while you watch. As the lever is moved up, you should see the rod push the pivot near the back of the deck back. As it moves back, it pulls the rod that connects to the idler plate. This tightens the belt and releases the brake.
