Craftsman 919.167600 26-Gallon Compressor - Cooling Fan Replacement

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

Hi, all...

I have a Craftsman 919.167600 26-gallon compressor and I need to replace the cooling fan (all the fins broke off).

Gently attempting to pry the fan off reveals that the whole shaft comes with it if I continue. Is there a way to get the fan off without disturbing the remainder of the shaft? I mean, you can buy just the fan for $2-$3 or so, so I imagine it can be done somehow. If there's a "right way," I'd like to do it the right way.

Thanks for considering my question.

Thank you for your question on the replacement of the air compressor fan blade.

The fan blade on this model I believe has a recess that fits over the motor shaft and should have had a screw down the center to hold it to the motor shaft. The picture you sent of the fan does not show a center screw but I believe there has to be one to keep it on the shaft.

You should be able to remove the fan without removing the motor shaft. You may want to split the remaining hub of the fan blade with a hack saw to weakening the plastic hub so it will come off easier.

Please let me know what you find out.

Anna: I probably should have said that I already viewed the thread that you cited in your response. The fan on this model attached in seemingly an entirely different way. No screws that I can see.
