Kenmore 665.17052.402 washer won't start

Hi, I have a Kenmore Dishwasher Model 665.17052.402, Type 877-0. The symptom is that it would not start. I believe the control input board is OK as when I pressed the Smart Wash button, it and the Heated Dry lights would come on [and time out in about 15 seconds]. The problem is it would not start as it would before when I press Start. Last time I had this problem and my wife came over the close the door more forcefully and then press the start .. it worked .. Now she cannot repeat the success. We can also lock and unlock the control [the 4 second press] .. The only thing we do not have is flashing lights, any flashing lights .. We have even pulled the power plug under the sink and waited 15 seconds to force the start sequencing .. Can you help me ? Thanks.

Thanks, AnneJ. These documents are very helpful ..

I am actually an electrical engineer, even though for the past 30 years I had a power transmission and distribution equipment sales job. I still need to read and understand relay ladder diagrams..

Just one additional assistance --- I assume that the electrical circuit boards are located within the front panel and the only access is to remove the stainless steel panel from the rear by the many tork screws ?

Thanks again ..

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your dishwasher. The problem that you are having however can be caused by several different issues. These include:

Loose connections in the controls or keypad

Door switch failure

Blown TCO attached to the control

Multiple open or shorted circuits

Faulty Control

The first image below will provide the troubleshooting for these items. I have also include a wiring diagram in case you need. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, I would suggest you schedule a technician to diagnose and repair the dishwasher. If you would like to schedule just click on this link:

Thanks, Marc.

I have pulled the power plug and waited 15 seconds to restart with a clean start cycle. Did not work.

I have also tried to look for clogged pipes or drains, etc. found nothing.

I have also let the hot water run in the sink for a while to make sure hot water would go into the washer .. still no help. By the way, is there any low temperature water over-ride on this machine ? What might be the factory setting temperature ?

I even tried to manually spin the sprayers just to confirm they are not stuck ..

I have also slammed the door shut and press the start .. would not work..

But all this time, the smart wash, Pots Pans, Normal wash lights would work individually OK .. Just would not start .. Frustrating ..
