Location of defrost thermostat on Kenmore refrigerator model 106.7670620

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

I have already secured the correct part and just need to know where the defective part is located.
I like to have some idea before I tear into the back wall of the freezer element. I have searched inside the back and cannot see the part so I'm thinking it must be somewhere not immediately visible.
Many thanks, Grant

Thank you for your question. Sometimes locating a part can be a challenge. The defrost thermostat will be mounted at the top of the evaporator. To gain access to the evaporator, the back panel in the freezer will need to be taken out. First, disconnect the power and then remove everything in the freezer, so the back panel (# 43 in picture) can be removed. When you have access to the evaporator, you will see the thermostat at the top. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Having to locate parts on an appliance can be tricky. While you are waiting for a detailed reply from an expert I recommend visiting the Sears parts direct website were you can view a full parts list and diagram of your model. I have provided the link below. Hope this helps!
