Ice sticking together
My Kenmore Refrigerator model 106.52562100 ice maker seems to have a problem. It makes ice but the ice sticks together and then ice chip pieces get built up around the bottom where it dispenses so the ice won't come out. I then have to take off the ice container, chip away at all the ice build up and make a new batch of ice for it only to happen again. Please help!

Thanks. However, we no longer use the crushed ice selection but when we use the ice dispenser crushed like ice comes out first before the whole cubes. It then eventually gets clogged up with all the shavings and I have to clean it out which is not easy since it is frozen. Do you still think it is the flapper door not sealing? It seems to seal ok. Thanks.
I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your ice dispenser. Ice cubes can get stuck at times if the conditions are just right. If you use a lot of crushed ice, ice shavings can stick in the chute and it can thaw out if the freezer door is left open for some length of time and then will refreeze. If you happen to dispense ice and the condition is just right an ice cube could freeze and stick instantly to the chute. I recommend cleaning out ice shavings periodically to avoid this from happening. Also check the flapper to make sure that it's shutting completely and making a good seal. If the flapper door is not making a good seal, warm moist air will migrate up the chute and cause frost and ice cubes to stick. I hope this helps. The chute is not jamming and the cubes are not getting jammed in the chute. So this is not my problem but thanks anyway! The ice is just simply sticking together and I get either ice chips or shavings or frost (not sure how to describe it) at the very bottom of the container that builds up causing a blockage so the ice will not come out the dispenser. There does not seem to be frost on the ice cubes that I am aware of right now.
