this compressor will not inflate a tire with more than 35psi.
Is this ok or is this unit defective?

I will be happy to assist you with this problem. The first thing we need to determine is if the unit will pump up and turn off. So turn the unit on and let it run. If it will not ever turn off there is a problem in the pump. The likely problem is a worn piston ring and cylinder or leaking reed valves. If the unit will turn off I recommend turning the pressure regulator up. The regulator controls the pressure coming out of the hose. I posted the instructions in the image below that shows how to adjust the regulator. Just click on the image to enlarge it.

Knowing when the compressor is operating within manufacturers specifications or if there is a problem is important. While you wait for the expert to review this model and respond, I attached the online owner's manual if needed. I hope this helps.

My unit will not go pass 25 psi. It will get there and that is all. It keeps running all the time. How will I know is that the valves are bad or the piston rings?
