Washer can, but will NOT spin, why?
I have a Kenmore Washer, Model # 110.21102011- I purchased this washer in Sept. 2010. In August of 2011 I returned it because it would occasionally NOT spin. I would have to unplug for a period of time and play with cycles to get it to spin out. I thought it was just a bad apple of a machine. Wrong! The NEW one I got, same model, is now ,(11 months later) doing the SAME thing. Cycle takes hours to complete, and when finally complete, you open lid to find wet blob in bottom. Select drain/spin and only clicks and humming, no spinning. Unplug for extended period of time, start and stop cycle a few times and voila - spinning! Try another load - nope - wet blob in bottom again. This has been going on, same story, for 4 days now. It CAN spin, it just won't. should have kept my 15 year old kenmore and just fixed it. I think this thing is a pile of junk. 2 washers doing the same exact thing - sounds like a mfr problem to me. What should I do now? I do not think warranty would apply now, has been longer than 1 year since ORIGINAL purchase. Does this sound like something specific I can fix or am I going to have to spend more on a service call than I paid for this washer that is less than 1 year old?

From the description of the lights I believe you have a shifter fault. Checking the connections at the shifter would be a good place to start. The 2nd image below contains some error codes you might see. One thing to be sure of is the lid is locking. Sorry for the delay getting back to you. I was off for a couple of days but will be working this weekend.
I finally got into the diagnostic mode, took a few tries- I come up with a code that lights up, from the left, a sequence #1,3,4,5, then a second sequence of #3,5. Can you tell me what that means?
It saddens me to hear about the problem you're having with the washer. Intermittent problems are always difficult to pin down. If the washer will spin sometimes but other times will not the most likely suspect would be a loose connection. I checked history and found no known issue with this washer concerning this type of problem. Errors are tracked and if any repair becomes excessive a fix is developed. I found no history for the problem you describe. I'm sorry you've been inconvenienced and now I'm about to put to you to work. This washer is suppose to be smart enought to help us figure out what is wrong. The images below contain the instructions to enter a diagnostic test. The 2nd image contains error codes you might see. The "Status Lights" determine what error code has been detected. Try this first and see what comes up. Good Luck. You're right about the warranty most likely being up.
