Upright freezer door was left open overnight. Now it won't run when I plug it in.

Frigidaire MFU17F3GW4 upright freezer, manufactured 1/99. The door was left open overnight and the next morning there was water on the floor, food thawed out and the motor was not running. I cleaned it out, soaked up the water and have let it sit for a day with the door open. Everything seems to be dried out but when I plug it in, nothing happens. I never smelled smoke or a burning smell, so I don't think the compressor burned out. However, I'm wondering if it's worth trying to get it repaired or if it would be better to just cut our losses now. I read on another site that possibly the start relay might have stopped working because it was going all night. Is that something easy to determine and repair? Is there a restart button on this model? Any ideas would be appreciated.

. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your freezer not running. We are here to help. Leaving the door open will not stop the freezer from running. I suspect the problem is with the defrost timer. You need to verify there is power in the outlet first. If there is power, pull the freezer out and remove the cover in the back. Next, turn the small dial on the defrost timer and see if the freezer starts up. Now, if that solves the problem, replace the defrost timer. The key number for the defrost timer is 23. The part number for the defrost timer is 216517400. However, if the fan in the freezer starts when it is plugged in and turned on, most likely the problem is with the relay. I hope this helps.
