I have a kenmore front load washer 48102 and the fabric softener is not dispensing.

The dispenser is not clogged and we have cleaned it well. It wasn't draining well so we cleaned out the drain pipe as well and unclogged it. The clothes are still soaked after the cycle finishes and it seems to not go into the final spin. The washer is draining much better but the fabric softner issue persists.

Be sure that you take separate counts on those blinking lights. If you cover the 5 vertical lights and the start light just blinks once (not 5 times) then the error code is E41 (control board thinks that the door is open). If that start light blinks 5 times then the error code is E45. It is confusing to decipher those error codes. Since the vertical row of lights blinks 4 times, then that first digit of the code is definitely 4. If the code is E41 and the door is properly closed, then you could have a problem with the door lock/switch assembly, the harness or the control board. The E45 code indicates that you will need to replace the control board. I hope that this additional information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

After running a diagnostic test, the washer ran perfectly for several cycles. Now it is not spinning or dispensing softner again. The diagnostic test results in the start and all 5 vertical lights blinking 4 times and then all 5 vertical lights blinking once. Which error code is this?

Hello Brigette. The lights will blink in a pattern on your washer to designate an error code. The first page shows how to determine the error code based on the pattern of the blinking lights. When the washer will not spin, it will normally display an error code with those blinking lights. The problem with the softener dispenser in the Step 4 of the diagnostic test could be caused by a failure in the dispenser or the water valves. If the bleach valve is working in Step 3 then that valve should be okay. To dispenser the fabric softener, the bleach and cold water valves are used. If that cold water valve is defective, then you will probably need to replace that inlet water valve assembly. If the cold water valve is okay, then you may have a failed control board. I hope that this additional information helps. If you need more assistance, let us know.

The washer does not have a digital face so unsure how to read the specific error code. Number 4 on the diagnostic test is where water was noticeacly not entering the washer through the softner compartment. Fabric softner is still not draining and it doesn't spin.

According to your description, it sounds like the washer is stopping before it gets to the rinse cycle. That could be why the clothes are still soaked and the fabric softener is not di It will normally display an error code when it stops in the middle of the cycle. The error code is signaled by a pattern of blinking lights on the console. The first image below shows how to recall the last error code. The second image lists the error codes for this washer. I recommend that you try to recall the last error code using that information. That may point you in the direction of your failure. The 4th and 5th images show the error codes for this washer. The 6th image shows a wiring diagram for the washer. Be sure that you

unplug the washer

before accessing internal components. This information may help you diagnose and repair your failure.

NOTE: Some of those tests in the 4th and 5th images involve live voltage checks using a volt/ohm meter. Use extreme caution if you conduct those live voltage checks yourself. Wear electrical safety gloves and safety goggles when checking live voltage. Unplug the washer as soon as live testing is completed
