Programming Craftsman 3-function visor remote control

We just purchased a new Craftsman 3-function visor remote control for use with an older garage door opener we have (Craftsman 41a3063). At the store we were told this would work with our opener, but in trying to set it up, we cannot find a "Learn" button on the opener, and instead there are a series of white switches that look like they are used for programming the remote.

Is it possible to get this new remote working with the older opener?

I found some information for you that I am hoping will help you program your remote. I am adding the link below to help you with your question while you wait for your expert response. To better help your expert, I would like to suggest adding your full model number. The model number on a garage door opener normally starts with a 139. I do hope that this helps you out.

I can understand the frustration of experiencing an issue when trying to program a remote for your garage door opener. However, this remote is not compatible with an old garage door opener. It uses a rolling code technology that your opener does not have. You can purchase a Craftsman universal garage door opener kit at your local Sear's store that will make them compatible with one another. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I recently bought a 3-function remote control(53778) to mate with my 1/2 hp craftsman garage door opener(139.536006)
The middle button works fine but I would like the bigger button on the right to operate because of the way it fits in the carrier in my car. I have read the instructions serveral times but I can't seem to program that big button.

Mr. Rodriguez – thank you for contacting ManageMyLife.com with your question about the remote control for your garage door opener. I am sorry you are having difficulties with programming it. I will be happy to help you with this. First, I would like to apologize for the delay in this response. We did not realize another question had been posted.

I have included the link for you to view the owner’s manual for the remote control online, in case you don’t have a copy.

Owner’s Manual for Craftsman Remote Control Model 139.53778.

Based on the model of your garage door opener, your unit should have a receiver board that looks like the board in option B, on the right hand side of the manual. The diagram of the remote control shows Push Button (+) for the first button, Push Button (0) for the second button and Push Button (-) for the large button at the right. This means on the receiver board on the garage door opener (not the remote) the first receiver switch needs to be in the (-) position for it to use the large button.

I hope this answers your question. If I can be of any further assistance, please respond to this thread. I want to apologize again for the delay in this response. Thank you for choosing Sears and using our ManageMyLife.com service.
