Kenmore Elite washing machine water level sensing error

I have a topload Kenmore Elite washing machine model 31512. The water level on a very small load I just did was extremely high - in fact more than half the tub. It should have washed the load with much much less - perhaps only 25% of the amount of water was needed.

this could be very costly to me long term- I'm disappointed in the performance of the water level sensor and I wish this machine would let me input it.

what can I do?

Jamie, The manufacture warranty is one year and if does cover any defect in material and workmanship. That is the standard warranty for a washer purchased anywhere. Most likely you would not have any problems within the first year. However, the days of any new appliance going 10 years trouble free is gone. I recommend the extended warranty on any product that uses circuit boards. The cost of labor and parts is high. One repair cost as much as the extended or sometimes more.

We are also looking at purchasing this Kenmore Elite washing machine - model 31512. I see some good reviews and then some not-so-good reviews about this washing machine. I understand that the washing machine comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. IF there are issues witthin the first year, I am assuming they will be covered under the manufacturer's warranty. I just don't see how to justify purchasing the extended warranty cost.

. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your washer not filling with water properly. We are here to help. Anne did provide you a good link on this type of problem. The water level is based on the weight of the clothes and cycle selected. On the small loads, you need to use the express wash. Small loads do not need to run as long as a normal wash. Also, Was the water plus button pushed? That would cause too much water for the load size. If you did not make a cycle mistake, I recommend the washer be unplugged 2 minutes Next, plug back in and try another load. If it now works properly if was a software glitch. However, if there is still no change, the load level sensor may have a problem. Since this is a new washer, I recommend a Sears Technician fix the problem. I hope this helps.
