Is anode rod part number 4710185 (used in Whirlpool water heaters) made with aluminum or magnesium?

Model No: EE3Z50RD055V

7 digit Product Number: 0830139

Serial Number: 0451123406

Whirlpool 50 gal. electric water heater

Unit is suffering from aluminum hydroxide build-up of "jelly beads" and requires replacement with a magnesium anode rod. Is subject replacement part (4710185) aouminum or magnesium? If aluminum, what is a compatible part number for a magnesium anode rod?

Thank you for submitting your question. Part number 4710185 is a magnesium anode rod. Magnesium rods are used more often than the aluminum. Aluminum rods are available for certain circumstances such as smelly water issues. You're getting the proper magnesium rod for your unit. I hope this helps. I tried that and was referred to THIS site. Www.partsdirect.com is simply an order-taking site with personnel not equiped to address technical questions.
