Whirlpool Cabrio Electric dryer start switch

by Wendy Cormier Lemoine Last activity date:

My start button no longer "clicks" as a compression switch. Need to replace the user interface, but I can't seem to remove the old user interface. I have tried to release the grey "release" tabs, but can't get it to budge. Any advice?

Hello Wendy,

Thank you for replying with your model number!

Be sure to unplug the dryer prior to attempting ay diagnosis or repair!

I have attacked a diagram that shows the approximate location of the plastic tabs that hold the user interface circuit board assembly in place. The trick is to carefully pry the board up and out of the console as you release the tabs. I have done this quite a few times and still have it pop back into place just when I think that I have the board free! Grrrrrr.

I usually use my smallest screwdriver and carefully pry out on the clips. Don't break them off though, the control board will not stay in place if the tabs are broken off.

You will want to look for screws, there is at least one and there may also be a few more too.

Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance.
