Can I get spindle adapter of old Craftsman shaper?

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

Hi - 37 years ago I bought a Craftsman wood shaper model 113.23930. Great machine. I'd like to use some router bits on it. I see in the current catalog a Woodstock D3080 Router Bit Spindle for W1674 Shaper. Will that work on my old shaper to be able to use router bits? If not, is there another adapter on the market that would work? Thanks. Lyn

Thank you for your question on the old Craftsman wood shaper.

I do not know of any after market adapter that will fit onto the spindle of the shaper and convert it to router bits.

The shaper runs to slow of an rpm for router bits and you would have to change the speed of the shaper to an unsafe level.

The Woodstock D3080 will not adapt to the spindle on the shaper.

I am sorry that this will not work but you can get after market shaper contours for the shaper through a number of wood working suppliers.
