I have the same problem and was wondering where I should start as far as diagnosing the issue. Any suggestions?

How old is your TV? I havethe sameexactly problem with model42pfl5432d/37 purchased in 2008. The problem with these TVs is faulty capasitors and boards. They cost $1300 when new and in less thatn 4 years they start becoming fire hazzards. Call and file a complaint here...you should not have to pay if your tv is failry new and the problem is defective electrical supply components...Philips already had a recall of their palsma TVs in 2006 for arching capacitors...

Hello Jose,

I would like to assist you with your television question. The link that Julio provided is correct, it is likely to be the panel. There are times when it is the power supply that provides power to the backlights, but in the case of this TV, the power supply is no longer available.

Please let me know if you would like any further assistance.

It can be both frustrating and costly when the screen fails on your LCD television. I did some research and provided a link to a similar question and answer on our site. I hope this will give you a better idea on the next step to take until the Expert responds to your question in more detail within 24 to 48 hours.
