I can understand your concern over wanting to know how to diagnose why your saw has stopped running. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

Thank you for your question as to why your Craftsman reciprocating saw is not coming on.

Since you have already checked the brushes and they seem to be okay then I would suggest doing some electrical checks on the switches on the inside of the handle.

Please make sure the saw is not plugged into an electrical outlet.

Remove the screws on the half cover of the handle to access the trigger switches and the power cord.

You can use the ohm setting on a volt/ohm meter to check the continuity of the power cord by putting the meter to and ohms setting and using the black and red probes on either end of the power cord to make sure the cord is not broken. Then proceed to the trigger switch. Remember to pull the trigger when checking the switch with the meter. If the trigger switch is bad then we have a problem because the switch is obsolete with no substitute switch available.

Please let me know what you discover when you open up the handle and check the wiring circuits.
