Susan,
If the refrigerator is holding the temperatures and you are not losing product, The unit is still functional. Consider the location, It shouldnot be in area of heat, Door not open for long periods of time. The air inside is still able to circulate. The key consideration is if the temperature starts to raise inside the box, and the conditions mentioned above are not part of the problem. I would recommend you get a technician to check the sealed system cooliant charge.

Is it normal for my (about) 13 year old GE Profile fridge/freezer to run for about 30 minutes then shut off for about 30 minutes and then kick back on again. It seems to go on and off every 30 minutes or so? I have both set on #5.

Hi,

Thank you for asking this question and allow me to answer it this way.

Ok after you worked on the ice bucket and reinstalled it, the unit will have to get to the temperature you have the freezer set to. Before it can make ice it will need to cool the freezer to the set temperature of around 0 degrees. You can leave the icemaker bail arm in the up or down position but again the freezer must get to the temperature to start freezing , this sometimes takes up to 24 hours. Then it will start to make ice.

The process is for each thread to go to first responders or screeners before it gets to the technicians, Sorry.

I hope this answer is useful and that it helps you correct the problem with your appliance.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.

I lifted the arm up in the ice maker and then it the fridge stopped running. I went out for several hours and when I got home it is running again. It has been running for about 2 hours non stop.

Is it suppose to run continuously???
