Dishwasher start button won't work

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

My dishwasher (kenmore elite, ultra wash, model 66513742k601) will not turn on. The other buttons will illuminate, but no matter what, the start button will not light up.

I am having the same issue: Start button is not working. Can anyone provide the diagnostic test procedures and instructions and results for performing this test? I see Barbara H. was attempting to share this, but I dont see where there are photos or links..

Thanks, JK

I just solved the same issue - it was a broken connector pin on the small circuit board that is connected between the control panel and the electronic control module. My PART NUMBER was W10082756. # 3 in the diagram on this link.

It is easy to check with an ohmmeter as the path from pin to pin is very obvious. I was able to repair mine, but the board is inexpensive to buy too. Check parts diagram for the correct part # for your model on Sears Direct.

Good luck,

GG

It is times like these, we all mutter, if only it could talk. Let me see if I can help.

Since the other keypad functions light and it is the start key not working, I would start by making sure the dishwasher door is securely shut. If the door is not making connection, the dishwasher will not start. Second, make sure the control lockout feature was not accidentally turned on. Press and hold the

Heated/Dry

key for 5 seconds to turn the control lock feature off (or on). If these do not cure the problem, the images below will help run a diagnostic test to get the dishwasher to provide the information needed. The second image will help with a keypad test if necessary. Once the diagnostic is complete, reply with the findings for further assistance. If you would feel more comfortable having a technician run diagnostics, you can schedule a technician here;
