F-9 Error Code Kenmore Self Cleaning Oven

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

I have a Kenmore Self-Cleaning built-in oven. Model number 911.47713201. When I set the oven to clean about an hour later it beeps with an F-9 error code. The oven does indicate that the door is locked. I have done this two times now and get the same results.

Thank you for submitting your question, I can understand your concern on not having a properly working oven. The "F9" fault code is indicating the control has detected a problem with the Door Latch Motor assembly or latch motor circuit. The door lock switches should be tested and the door lock electrical circuit. The door must be closed in order for the door switch to energize. Try pushing inwards on the door and keep tension on it while starting a clean cycle. Try starting then canceling a clean cycle to clear the error code. Once the failed part is replaced or repaired the F9 will clear. If it continues to display F9, I recommend service. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician.
