Kenmore/LG Refrigerator Light doesn't go on all the time. 795.77549600

The light doesn't go on each time the door opens (sometimes it works fine), the sockets seem ok since if I play with both door switches the flicker, the water in the door behaves correctly (doesn't flow when doors are open). When the lights do not work, I hole in one switch and play with the other and sometimes the lights come on, at the same time I hear a relay click in the back of the fridge on the right side, not sure if this is a light relay or the solenoid to control the warter flow when the door is closed or open. Please help! Thank you

Mitch, the main board is located behind the unit. I'm attaching some pictures with instructions to access, this board. Be sure to disconnect the power first. I hope this will help you.

Can you please tell me how to gain access to the control panel? Is it underneath or on the back? I would like to test the lights from there. I am sure the sockets are ok and the switches have been replaced. They still try to go on with one small flicker when one door is opened. Thank you

Mitch, this would be a difficult check. If you feel comfortable reversing some wires, you can switch the red and pink wires in connector # 3. Be sure to disconnect the power first. If the lights work now, the switch will need to be replaced. Do not leave these wires reversed, this is only a test. I hope this will help you.

Hello again- the freezer light works fine. Is it possible to get to the control board and swap the freezer connection with the refrigerator connection to see if the lights start working in the top and not the bottom? can it be the sockets? My experience in the past with repair people is $300 later its still not fixed. Please advise

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the light not working. Based on the information listed, it would appear one of the light switches has failed. This could also be a problem with the control board but it does not appear to be as likely. These switches are inexpensive and I recommend replacing both switches # 6600JB3007E. The switches will pry out. Be sure to disconnect the power first. They are available at

. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will assist you further.
