Garage door opener issues...

Hello expert(s),

My Genie Screw Drive, Model #12A, FCC ID: B8QGR912 garage door opener will only go down if I press and hold the button in the garage. There's nothing in the way of it, I replaced the sensors to the manufacturer's specifications. The sensor lights are on and go off when something crosses their path, as they should... Not sure what else to do...

When I press and quickly depress the button, the door will move about 4-6" and come right back up.

Please, let me know your thoughts. Thank you. - J

Morning Annej, are you still with us?

I'm just wondering how the Logic Board test is usually performed... Is it by looking at the door opener motor for stuff to line up or not line up while it operates? Or, is it a manual test meaning that while the opener's in operation, I would pull or push somewhere? Or, is the test completed with an electronic tester?

I'd love to figure this out... Thanks - Jonathan

Hi Annej,

Can you tell me how to test the logic board? Or, what the test involves?

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your garage door opener. When the opener and the sensors have stopped communicating with each other, it is due to either a malfunction in the sensors, or a malfunction in the logic board. Since you have already replaced the sensors then the problem is most likely in the logic board. I would suggest that you have this tested before replacing it.
