It's the plastic piece that triggers the light on and off when I open and close the fridge. It seems to me that maybe that piece is going bad but I'm not sure.

Ill try it. If that doesn't work how do I get the old switch out to replace it with a new one?

Hi Chadwick, The switch would only need cleaning on the exposed area,( no need to remove) not internally. Disconnect power supply and use a damp cloth to wipe the acuator part off and use a toothpick to remove any debris from the cavity where the acuator goes in and out.
Looking at the picture your looks clean, but give it a try anyway.

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model 795.78093.901; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you.

Based on your explanation of the problem it appears that either the light switch needs cleaning or if that does not help it should be replaced. The switch has a spring inside it that should make it retract when pushed in, often cleaning or lubricating will help unless the spring is broken, If the spring id broken it must be replaced. To remove just snap it out.

Here is a link to the

light switch.

I hope this helps, if you need more help reply with added details and I will be happy to respond.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:

I know how important it is to have the light bulb in your refrigerator working properly so that you can look inside your refrigerator to get the food items you need. I am sorry for the inconvenience and I did manage to find a link with a similar question. Click

here

for the link. You can also click

here

and enter the model number of your refrigerator and a parts list diagram will pop up to order the switch. I hope this helps with your research while you wait for your expert response.
