How to set dehumidifier operation for automatic restart when desired humidity level reached. Manual unclear.

Just purchased Kenmore Dehumidifier Model 53570. Please tell me how to set controls for humidity level so that unit will run until that level is reached, turn off and restart automatically when it senses change. Does this model not have this feature? Your assistance greatly appreciated.

William, on this dehumidifier when you set the humidity level at 55% it will run until it reaches this. Then the compressor will shut off, the fan may run for 3 more minutes then it will stop. Unless you are in a very high humidity area, the dehumidifier will continue to run like this until you change the settings. If you live in a very high humidity area, then the dehumidifier may run constantly. This is because the humidity level never get below the setting. This is when it is best to use the Continuous Operation (CO). The CO will run all the time, it does not shut off until you change the setting.

Thanks Anne J. I set mine at 55%. It reached that level but unit continue to run and retain that humidity level but does not shut off. Is this the way it is supposed to run? Thanks for your help. Important to all who have similar question on this model.

I believe I found answer in manual of previous model. Power on, set humidity setting, set fan speed. Once humidity setting reached, unit shuts off. When it exceeds setting, it will auto start. This simple option now in new manual and thus confusion of many who have sent in similar question. Please verify that I am correct. Many thanks.

Manual: "To set unit to continuous operation, press down arrow button until display shows 35%. Press again and display will show CO. The continuous indicator will light up on panel. To leave, press up arrow." How can you increase from 35% to 55% level without leaving CO operation? If you use UP arrow you automatically leave continuous operation. This is the answer I seek. Thank you.

I can understand how important it is to have the right information for your dehumidifier. On this model when you set the dehumidifier to a specific setting the unit will automatically shut off when the level is reached. It will turn back on when the unit senses the level higher the what you have it set for. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
