Kenmore Automatic Washer Lid Switch Compatibility
by Manage My Life Last activity date:
I have a Kenmore Automatic Washer Model No. 110.28882790
80 Series, Heavy Duty, Super Capacity Plus
and my lid switch (Part No. 3949238) went bad.
I called my locale appliance parts dealer and instead of asking for the "part number" he asked that I bring my broken lid switch with me so he can match it up. He said that Kenmore only make two kinds of lid switches for a Kenmore 80 series washer, and that it was just a matter of matching them up.
After purchasing the new lid switch, which identically was an exact match, I noticed when I returned home and referenced my Kenmore Automatic Washer Parts List that the part number of the new lid switch had a different number than was referenced. As I stated previously the parts list references Part No. 3949238, and the part no of the one I picked up at my local appliance parts dealer was Part No. 3949247.
Upon further inspection, I did notice that the new lid switch wiring and gray wiring harness is longer than the wiring and wiring harness on my original lid switch.
My question is as follows: Is this new lid switch, Part No. 3949247 compatible with my automatic washer, and can I use it to replace my old lid switch?
Thank you for your time and incite regarding this matter.
