Terrible TV died in less than 90 days!

I purchased this thinking it was a good deal. But to my dismay this television died completely today, Aug. 13, 2014. It was purchased May 29, 2014. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any consumer purchase ever - from other electronics to auto parts. Now it is supposed to get repaired - a new Main Control Board - in two weeks! So it sits dead and useless. Remind my to never buy RCA products again.

Good display, needs settings tweaking

Owned for about 2 weeks. I bought this because it is a rear-lit display, and I wanted as even of a picture as possible. Out of the box, flesh tones are really off. I had to adjust color settings to get something acceptable out of it. There aren't as many color setting options as other manufacturers (LG, Samsung) offer, such as individual R-G-B.
The remote is a bit of a funky layout, and isn't terribly powerful. You have to point it directly at the TV to get it to work.

Bought this because I wanted a non-smart-TV to use with my own equipment. I will try to update if I have issues with the TV.

Good Picture / Poor Sound

Purchased the LED50B45RQ in June of 2014 for $400. For that price I think the picture is quite good. Nice brightness and contrast with crisp picture detail. But as you will find on other website reviews the sound quality from the internal speakers is poor. There is very little bass or treble response even with the equalizer settings at max. I had expected that so connected a sound bar to the TV using the headphone jack. I did not use the TV's digital coax audio out since the sound bar only had optical (TOSLINK) inputs and I wanted the TV remote to control the sound bar volume. Well there was some disappointment with this connection. The background low frequency hum from the headphone jack is significant. This is purely from the TV electronics since I removed all the TV inputs and muted the TV volume and the hum was still there. It even occurs using straight headphones. If you have decent low end response on your sound bar the hum will be very noticeable. The only short term fix I had was to turn down the bass response on the sound bar (to reduce the background hum), then increase the bass response on the TV equalizer to compensate. Next step is to get a coax digital to TOSLINK converter and not use the headphone jack. So the product lost one star for the headphone background hum and 1 star for no TOSLINK. But still a good deal for the price.

No need to spend tons on a top brand name

Excellent Value!

This television has a great picture; clean, sharp, and bright. It was inexpensive, so we were apprehensive about the purchase at first. It turned out to be a great investment and we're very happy with it. It has all the features we wanted, for a whole lot less!

Overall good quality and great value with just one major quirk.

This TV probably would have been a five star product because of the overall good quality and phenomenal value. Picture clarity is amazing and it's easy to set up and start watching right away.
Smart TVs are several hundred dollars more for many features that I would never use. This TV is very basic in comparison, however, once I connected my DVR and AppleTV, it's a beautiful entertainment product.
My only BIG gripe is that the digital audio out is an RCA coax output. Sound bars and most home theatre system use optical cable (toslink) connections which make the coax output on this TV somewhat useless. I had to buy this funky adaptor (that you have to plug in to a wall outlet) on Amazon that converts digital coax to optical for 25.00.
