DescriptionSpecifications
The Reel Mower 18 Inch Is Ideal For Trimming Small Lawns
Say hello to the Remington 18inch reel mower with bagger and goodbye to noise, fumes and messy cleanup. Ideal for trimming small lawns or areas that require special attention and care, this reel mower uses a shear-like cutting motion to slice through grass like paper. It gives you a closer cut than many traditional rotary mowers, not to mention that it's so silent you can mow the lawn in peace and quiet. When you've finished mowing, you'll have a great looking, well-kept yard from a low-impact environmentally friendly lawn care solution. Since it doesn't use gas or oil, there's no mess to clean up and no fumes or emissions.
Remington's reel mower 18 inch mulches while it cuts. Or you can use the included Grass Catcher to bag your grass clippings and help prevent thatch buildup. Remington brings modern, ergonomic features to a classic mower design. The padded handle has foam grips that are easy on your hands so you can get tough on grass. The mower can be quickly raised or lowered from a super-low 0.75 inches up to 2.5 inches, depending on your turf type and specific lawn care regimen. The 9-position height adjusters are located near the rear wheels and make it easy to raise or lower.

  • Remington 18inch reel mower with bagger is a true eco-friendly lawn care solution
  • RM3100 Grass Catcher collects clippings while you mow, helping to reduce thatch buildup
  • Detach the Grass Catcher to mulch clippings and

Remington 18 inch Reel Mower -- Prima Donna of lawn mowers

This mower is fine if conditions are perfect -- not a bit of wetness on the grass, no uneven surfaces, no broad leaf grasses (ok, weeds), and you want to mow every 2 or 3 days. But if there's any dew on the grass, it doesn't cut well (fair enough -- lots of lawnmowers won't). If you hit an uneven surface, it jams, if the grass is too long in a spot, it jams. Sometimes it just jams randomly. Jams can be corrected by pulling the mower backwards for a period of time (anywhere from 3 to 15 feet). Not sure why that unjams it but it does.

And the grass catcher is kind of a joke. the grass occasionally actually goes into it but unless you stop and empty it every 15-20 feet (or at least shove the grass clippings to the back of the catcher), the clippings spew to the front of the mower.

I haven't used a reel mower in years so perhaps this is just what all of them do.

Very hard to push

This mower was useless to us since it was so hard to push and was cheaply made, so we returned it.

Slick and efficient

Here in Texas, we have a decent sized lawn, but not huge. I have found this mower to be clean cutting, very easy to use and a faster way to mow the lawn. Yes, faster. I also have a wonderful ********** walk behind self-propelled mower and I find this one gets the job done faster. I'm also digging less grass out of the pool. It does exactly what it says and is a breeze to maneuver once you use it a bit. Very easy height adjustment.

Good for the ecology

The bag catcher is a waste. It doesn't catch the majority of the grass regardless of what setting I used so I have to rake the long grass anyway. Other than that it works fine but I have only used it twice so far. I will be interested to see how long the blades remain sharp enough to cut well.

Remington Push Mower

I am not sure what type of grass everyone who likes this mower is cutting but if you have a hybrid bermuda like tiff green or mid iron forget it! It starts out great when your sod is new but once it starts to fill in and get dense this mower can not handle it. It turns into a back breaking miserable chore!! I mow my grass three times a week and struggle with this mower constantly jamming and I am a physicaly fit individual who works out 5 days a week. I wanted to be enviromently friendly when I bought it for our small patch of grass, but now as I sit here with terrible lower back pain from this mower I am going to either donate it to Goodwill or smash it when I feel better. It's back to a gas real mower for me.

Remington Real Mower w/Bagger

I bought this item as a gift for my son who just moved into a Townhouse with a small yard with gardens and patio. It's his first attempt to be a "gardener" and he requested this mover. He loves it and with the Bagger attached helps with NOT raking after cutting the area. Great gift!

The Remington 18 Reel Mower is Great!

I love this lawn mower!. My son put it together in about 3 minutes. I wanted a mower that would be easy on both me and the environment. I got that, and more. The mower is simple to push, it cuts a wide path, and I really like that I can trap the cuttings to be used for compost. I definitely recommend this mower.

This Remington Reel Mower is a great value and easy to use!

Very easy to assemble. This mower does a very good job of cutting, even longer length grass. It is easy to push, I'm disabled with arthritis and even I can manage to push this mower to cut the grass now! With the ever rising cost of gasoline this mower will save us lots of money. It is much more quiet than a gas powered mower. Very eco friendly!

Remington 18 in. reel mower is a tremendous value

Spent many hours researching push reel mowers on the web.  The consensus seemed to be that the best machine you could buy was the Fiskers(TM) brand reel mower.   I however, could not afford the near $200 price tag for that machine.  So when I saw this Remington(TM) model while I was at Sears buying my Craftsman(TM) 12in weedwacker(TM), I thought I'd give this mower a try.  As you can see from my star rating, I was not dissappointed.  I liked the ease of assembly and how easy it is to push.  It seems to do a great job of cutting as well.  Occasionally I have to go over a spot a second time, but what I gathered from reading other reviews, is that that is also the case for all manually-powered reel mowers.  The only negative I've found is that some of the grass clippings fly over, instead of into, the catcher.  By way of disclosure, I must admit the following:

I have a small yard (were it any larger, I'd probably invest in an electric mower).

I live in an area that is perfectly flat (no hills or mounds).

I have bermuda grass (thin blade so I don't know what performance would be like for say, St. Augustine or other fat-bladed grasses).

I live in the desert so I have no clue as to how it would perform on wet or dewey grass.

Remington Reel Mower is not worth a Dollar

Opened the box to find grass clipings from a previous owner. Thought I was getting a new mower. The mower would only cut on the two inches on each edge of the blade. There was a big gap in the middle that would not go away no matter how the tension was adjusted. Will probably never buy another reel mower or from Sears again. Bad mower and paid new item price for a used item.

It is a great product

This clean energy saver equipment is great. It does not only get lawn in shape; it also gets my body in shape. It is manageable, no running out of gas or extention cord to get in your way.

Comes in handy especially around flower/garden beds and trees

This mower is great for small yards and around flower/garden beds. It is easy to use and takes less time than starting a push mower. The yard looks very manicured and the blades sharpened themselves. You can get some exercise while using it as well!

Hated it!

I liked it the first time I used it out of the box. It was quiet and easy to push. The next 3 times I took it out of the garage, I had to adjust the tension so the wheels would turn and the reel would not hit the bar. Too much of a hassle just to get the grass cut! I took it back and bought a gas mower.
