This Audio Bar w/Wireless Subwoofer = No Clutter, Awesome Sound

We bought a 60" sharp Aquos Quattron from Sears, this is a great TV but the volume is totally inadequate. We returned to Sears to see if it was a fault of the TV or the norm for that model. we had heard that sound bars were the way to go. We had tried several sound systems including the BOSE 3-2-1 and could not find one that worked for us. On a recommendation from the very helpful sales clerk we decided to try out the Samsung - 2.1 Channel Audio Bar with Wireless Subwoofer. HW-D551. It was a little more than we had expected to pay but when we got it home and hooked it up, {which I must say was as easy as 1- 2- 3} we were delighted with both the sound volume and quality. This sound bar matches very nicely with the TV and stand that we have. If your TV is mounted on the wall, this comes with a wall mount bracket, just hang it 2 inches below the TV, or fit it into the tv stand shelves which is what suited our setup. It does come with connecting cables but we decided to go the extra few dollars and buy a HDMI cable to ensure a better and easier connection.It offers 2 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output, allowing you to transmit high-definition audio and video over a single cable. There are 7 different sound modes that let you optimize the system's performance based on the type of content you want to enjoy. The selling points on this is the Slim Design, Integrated Active Speakers, Metallic Silver Finish,(it matches most of today's TV's) Wireless Subwoofer, HDMI Connectivity, Special Sound Modes, Dolby and DTS Compatible, Multi-Function Remote. And of course the fact that the sub-woofer is wireless is so much neater.We were so happy with it that we recommended it to our friends who have also bought the same model.The only strike against it is the fact that although the input mode display does show iPod it is only available with Samsung Dock HT-WDC10 which is sold separately. Maybe down the road I will add that on.

I can believe such good sound is coming from such small speakers

I really went out on a limb to buy this because I had not listened to any of these systems. I had only read reviews of such in the New York Times. So it was a very pleasant surprise to hear such excellent sound quality coming from small speakers. Obviously this is a big step forward in sound reproduction technology. I'm also pleased with the design which blends beautifly with the Samsung TV.

This system works well for me because of limited space and I especially like that the sub-woofer is wireless so I was able to place it on the other side of a slider. I also like the several settings that accommodate the different program material.

We listen to a lot of classical music including opera. The classical channels provided by our cable system have been a joy to listen to through this system -- the music setting works very nicely. I'm looking forward to adding a Blu-ray DVD player for movies and opera DVD's.

In summary, this is an amazing product. I have been a concert piano technician for 25 years, have owned numerous stereo components over the years and am a bit picky when it comes to good tone. This system would be hard to beat and for a very affordable price.

Amazing sound!!!!

I recently thought I was downgrading drastically by going from a 6.1 surround to this soundbar, but I was so wrong. The sound quality is top notch and the 3D surround actual works! My only real complaint, besides it not working with the Direct TV remote, is that the display is at an awkward spot on top which really limits you on how high you can mount this soundbar on the wall and still be able to read the display.

Get a warrenty

I purchased this sound bar about 1 year ago. After reading all the great reviews, I figured I wouldn't have to purchase an extended warrently. After a year of use, the sound cuts in and out. To correct this, I must turn it off and on a few times. There are occasions when the sound bar is on and no volume is heard. To correct this I must adjust the buttons and hit cinema, drama, digital, etc. until the volume can be heard on one of these. I've checked the wiring to ensure nothing is loose and causing these problems, but concluded this not to be the root cause. It is the product alone to blame. On a positive note, when the sound bar is working properly the sound delivers. Maybe I just bought one that was a dud and others work fine... either way don't risk it, get a warrenty!

I am a big movie and gaming buff, and this sound bar and subwoofer took it over the limit. The samsung sound bar gives you the feeling of being there as if you are in the movie or in the game.
