the soleus portable a/c great buy

It works real good I use it in a 12 by 15 ft room, it cools the room pretty fast I see alot of people dont like this and say it doesnt work but you have to vent it correctly or it doesnt work!!

misleading and a hassle

The picture you see of this air conditioner is great! Not only do they leave out the giant hose you have to use BUT you have a Giant hose that hooks up to the back of this thing that leaks out hot air. So let me create a mental image for you. Imagine a big white block next to your window protruding from the wall (about 2 ft) with a big goofy looking hose connected from the window to the back of the A.C. unit. Then imagine there being no purpose for it at all especially after dropping a lot of cash on it. thats what you get here folks. the only positive thing about this thing is that for about an hour you will get cold air and then after that its a constant battle between hot air leaking into the room with cold air exiting the front. waste of money and time. Nothing more, nothing less.

horrible unit. This unit leaks and is very very loud. Its so loud that you can't even hear the tv speakers. You can't even the hear surround sounds. If you are running this unit from 25 feet away. It is still loud and does not keep the room cold. It leaks everywhere. I would not recommend this product at all

Item did what it was made to do.water container should be a little larger in humid areas ; alsothe unit makes a little too much noise.Over all very pleased.

We can finally sleep at night - cools off the room SO fast!

We love this A/C unit. We were dying in our apartment that had only a wall unit A/C in the living room. Now, we can sleep again! We turn it on about 30 min prior to bed and the room is cool and pleasant when we go to sleep. Watch out, it does hike up your electricity bill but we've found the dehumidifier setting works well or even just the fan setting once the room is cooled off. We have a 10x12 room and it's PLENTY strong to cool it! GREAT purchase!!!!

Soleus portable air conditioner

It's the end of September, but we're having a prolonged heat wave in SoCal and the utility bill just went through the roof. So I decided to try a room cooling solution with the Soleus air conditioner. My brother-in-law purchased a similar unit at ****** which worked well for his upstairs gameroom, so I thought I'd give this less expensive unit a try. Works great! Very simple to set up - just need to position near a window to exhaust the hot air. Cooled the room immediately. After 2 weeks, I purchased a second one for downstairs and turned the central AC off to save money. Yes, you need to drain the water every day, but small price to pay for comfort. So far, very satisfied.

DRAIN PLUG AT FLOOR - WHAT A PAIN !!

 EVAPORATIVE and DEHUMIDIFIER are two words used to describe this AIR CONDITIONER. It is an OXYMORONIC. I purchased this to air condition my room, in other words to cool it. It was easy enough to vent out the window. However it failed to do the job. I live in New England and it is humid here in the summer. All air conditioners take humidy out of the air.  As do dehumidifiers. Too suggest that this could be evaporative (without collecting water) is ridicolous. After one night I had to empty the drain pan that is inside.The drain plug is next to the floor. This took considerable time and is not something I have time to do everyday. I returned it to the store. I have another of these air conditioner/dehumidifer ( not evaporative) by a different manufacturer and they have a removable side pail that is easy to EMPTY and CLEAN and KEEP FREE OF MOLD. What a difference. This one would work well ONLY in dry arid regions.

Better for smaller rooms.

This portable A/C unit works great but not in large rooms. We got it for a fairly large bedroom with vaulted sealings and hard floors, and to tell you the truth, I think the room we have it in is too big for it, but it does work to keep you cooled off, and if you face it towards the area where you are sitting, it's fairly nice and does a good job. However, with that in mind this is not a good unit for living rooms, or larger rooms. Our room is 22 ft x 11 ft and the ceiling is approximately 12 feet high in the center. We live in a very warm/hot and muggy area (in the hills in La Mesa, California) and this barely does the trick for this room. So, if you could get a unit that goes in a window that is a bit more money you might be happier if you have a large room. Overall though, for the price, it does the job. No real complaints.

Soleus Air Portable A/C Works Great in My Small Space

I bought this unit to cool a small 150 sq ft office. It will make The room chilly if I don't run it on low or medium. If I leave my door open, it helps cool the hall and the adjacent rooms, without sacrificing the coolness of my space. It's fairly quiet and the unit is on wheels, which makes it easy to move around. The only down side - true for all portables - is the 6" flex hose required to vent the warm air outside. It takes up space and and be a pain to step around. Plan the location for the unit accordingly. Overall build quality and feel of the controls is very good.

AWESOME AC UNIT!!

I puchased this portable A/C unit for my daughter's room which has been impossible to sleep in during these hot nights. It works better than expected. Easy assembly, quick set up, and it works beautifully.  Her room is now the coolest in the house, worth every penny. Yes the remote as others mentioned has features that are not available on this lower end model, but the remote does work for the basic temp. control, and off/on. You can not go wrong for this price.
